And In A Wide Sea Of Eyes I See One Pair That I Recognize
“I don’t get many things right the first time In fact, I am told that a lot Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls Brought me here” Ben Folds – The Luckiest
We finally made it to the big day! Yes, this post is coming after the wedding because I stayed away from the blog for the duration of the wedding/honeymoon. I wanted to ensure I enjoyed all of the time with Mackenzie to the fullest before returning here. We’ll have a big post on the wedding coming up, but first, I wanted to take some time to just write about her. She doesn’t know I shot this or that I’m writing it. You only get to do this for the first time once, so I’m making the most of it. This one’s going to be full of mush, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Expect a lot of callbacks to previous posts and things we’ve done together, our past is already full of memories, and I know there are many more ahead of us. Enjoy.
WHOA. Lucky’s blonde and has no beard? What is this madness? I know, I know it’s outside of the normal look. Sometimes though you just have to do what fits the theme best. This is what we decided was best and here we are! You might notice another blonde co-starring in this particular post with me. Don’t get confused though, it is not the infamous Cori Conundrum. She’s still around but only when required. Today we have someone new to introduce, Miss Mackenzie Drascol. She very willingly opted to be the Barbie to my Ken for this shot and I do think she pulled it off perfectly. I would say get used to the name because you’ll probably be seeing her around here quite often. I’ve grown very fond of her 😉
Our first post came a little while after we started our journey together. The idea of doing something with Barbie was the perfect starting point since she is a brilliant blonde who could do just about anything she wanted to be. I look back and think of how our meeting on Thundr led to a five-hour conversation the first night we actually spent together in world. To this day, I can recall her telling me she’d never talked to anyone here for five hours before. Little did we know how many hours would follow that first night. I knew pretty quickly that she was special, and we spent those first days of our relationship talking for hours. I can truly say that I have never met someone who makes me feel as complete as she does. Truly the Barbie to my Ken, and I’m not just the accessory (sorry Ken).
I know I introduced Mackenzie to the blog and all of the things that come along with it not that long ago, but we’ve known one another to a degree for quite some time, and in the time we’ve been together it’s very apparent how in sync we truly are. There’s no should’ve, would’ve, could’ve with her. We do what we want to do, each one of us has their things, we respect one another’s wants and needs, and communication is a piece of cake. It’s the first time in a long time that I truly have zero complaints about anything. Everything just works like it should and even though we both probably expect the next day to have something where it goes sideways or weird, it just doesn’t happen. The past has led us to where we are and neither one of us is taking it for granted. We embrace and enjoy every moment and plan to for a long time to come.
I remember popping the question to her like it was yesterday and not really knowing what she would say. I had a feeling, of course, but you can never be completely sure. Thankfully she said yes, and our path to today began. We talked about what kind of thing we could shoot for a “We’re Engaged” style photo, and I kept going back to the idea of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story.” You all know Lucky is a diehard Swiftie, and when we talked about shooting something that fell into that style of photo, Mackenzie was all for it. I’m grateful to have a partner who enjoys being involved in the blogging I do and coming up with and assisting in the photography that we do for the posts. She also does an amazing job of taking photos, and I hope you’ll see her work in our post about the wedding because I think we’ll be working together on that post. It’s the perfect time to get both of us on a post together.
The reason I chose “Swipe Right” for this post is the uplifting message it conveys. In the end, it comes down to we are all the same, all worth caring about, worth loving, and we are not anything more than what we wish to be seen as. I also loved the idea of swiping right or left because honestly, and this could be a damn ad spot for Thundr, that’s how we met. I never expected it to work out as well as it did but here we are and I truly couldn’t be happier with the decision. Now I know I’m in the lucky minority where it works out like that but put yourself out there, take chances, because you never know what might happen. I swiped quite a few times and ended up right where I belong. I owe a massive thanks to Thundr for somehow guiding me in the perfect direction.
I took a lot of time to make sure the house was ready before I ever met her in world because I felt it was important to not just be a lazy guy with a half-empty house. So I burned all of the midnight oil to make sure that it was fully set up before I had her over. When the subject of us moving in together came up, I could tell she felt kind of bad about asking me to give up that space. I was more than happy to; the work done there was great, sure, but to share space with the person you love and have it be a collaborative thing is just something you can’t pass up. What started as a house became our home as we both decorated things to make it ours. I got to keep all of my man cave stuff, so Kobe and the Lakers are still very prominent in our home. She’s done a beautiful job of decorating much of the house, and we share our office space which is awesome. I love having spaces together where we both can show off our personalities.
On the boat ride, Tye made sure to mention that there were hidden spots, trees, and more to get freaky on. For the record Timor Isles @ Bali is a 100% Adult resort so there are TONS of things to do with all of the adulting you could want. You all know me I’m good with all of that and when this particular tree came into my line of sight Saturday night I knew it just had to be the place.
We made sure to circle back to that tree after dinners, and stuff were out of the way and had a good amount of fun before nailing what is one of my favorite vacation photos ever. Tye, I told you it would happen; suggesting things to me is always going to make me go, hmmmm, let’s see what we can do with that. I think it turned pretty damn hot while staying in the not-full-on porn vibe that I could have shot; I like being fancy-ish with these kinds of shots most of the time because you really can do so much more than make it hardcore. I think there’s more of a challenge to that aspect of it, and it’s one I enjoy. I’m quite sure she enjoyed it too.
For Mackenzie’s birthday, I took advantage of knowing that she had never been on a Second Life vacation, and of course, my history with Highlife Destinations made the newest version of Timor Isles @ Bali the perfect choice. I wanted to make sure I showed her the best time I could, and Tye and Gabe have never disappointed me, always always always treating me like a member of the family, and of course, you could tell they appreciate seeing you again when you’re back there. I love you guys and your family; thank you for treating us like family as well. Our weekend in Bali was incredible, and to be able to do it over her birthday made it all the better. It’s a memory of something she had never done in Second Life, and it was perfect. That shot from the tree is just one of four I took while we were there, but it is by far the hottest of the four.
We spent some time figuring out what dates we thought might work for us both, we looked far and wide across the grid and ended up finding the right place to do it all. On October 7th we’ll say “I do” and start that chapter of our Second Lives. I’m excited as all hell and can’t wait because like I’ve said before I’m keeping her. We still have to figure out bits and pieces of the wedding of course but that will get done in the time we have leading up to it. I really love what we’ve come up with so far. I think it’s going to be very memorable for us. I love you babe. ♥
As we were planning our wedding with the incredible team at Costa Bella Weddings(more on them coming in the wedding post), we wanted to shoot a “Save The Date” photo because it’s a part of our relationship we wanted to remember. We knew that an autumn vibe was the way to go with getting married in early October. I spent some time putting together the scene and then getting her feedback on it. (I always get her feedback because if something isn’t right or doesn’t work, she’ll be honest and tell me.) We got the poses figured out, and both shot different shots of the scene because it’s always fun to see who ends up with what. She, of course, is focused on the important things while I’m checking the time because these time zones are such a pain sometimes.
I am so unbelievably excited. I mean I have been excited before but this is a whole different level of excitement. We both are very thrilled to be expecting our first little one together. That’s right, we are pregnant! We’ll be welcoming our little bundle of joy into the world this November at some point. I’m a November baby, so it’s really cool to be having a little one in the same month. I can’t wait to start this journey with Mackenzie. She did a spectacular job of surprising me with the news; I never saw it coming. She made got an awesome “Hello Daddy” box with a onesie, booties, and the positive test and made me a beautiful card to tell me the details. I’m still on cloud nine from it! I can’t wait to meet our little ginger baby ♥
The biggest news we had apart from the wedding was the surprise of Baby Girl Spiritor! She’ll be here in early November, and yes, we have picked out a name for our little bundle of joy, but we’ll announce that when the time is right. Dad is not jumping the gun until Mom says we are ready to make that announcement. We’re in the process of getting her nursery set up, perfect for her arrival. I couldn’t believe it then, and I honestly still can’t now, but God, am I excited to welcome the newest Spiritor into the world. She’s going to have a big loving family around her, and I couldn’t imagine a better Mom than Mackenzie.
I am grateful for every single moment I get to spend with her. Some days we have a bunch of time; some days, we have a little less. But we make the most of our time. If that’s sitting at home enjoying each other while we both are doing things, then we’re happy. If it means we’re out doing something, shooting a photo, or going on some kind of adventure, we’re happy too. I love that about her. We don’t have to be busy to be happy. Sometimes just getting to snuggle on the couch is the perfect night.
I’m so proud of how hard she works every single day. I see it in what she does and how much she pushes herself to achieve bigger and better things. It’s a joy to be a part of it. As I said at the beginning, she doesn’t know I’m writing this, so by this point now, she obviously will. I love you, baby; I’m so proud of you and so happy to share this life with you. I cannot wait to see the things you achieve, and I will do everything I can to be the loving, supportive husband you deserve. You’re one of a kind, and I can’t believe you’re mine. ♥
I did take the time prior to the wedding in the Groom’s Suite while we were getting ready to snap a shot that brings Thundr into our day because, without Thundr, there wouldn’t be a wedding to have planned, a honeymoon to go on, a wife to have and to hold, as well as a beautiful baby girl on the way. I took the extra time to ensure my vows were 100% right, and they ended up being perfect. Don’t sleep on Thundr; you never know who is out there. Go find your perfect match now, and maybe I’ll see your wedding next!
