Today we’re highlighting moving day! That’s right for the first time I decided to shoot an “I’m moving” photo. I’ve moved many times in Second Life as most of us have, but I have never taken the time to set up a photo shoot for it. I felt like now is as good a time as ever to do it because I have a very willing partner in Mackenzie to do it with. So we’re packing everything up, leaving the home I’ve known for the longest time now, and embarking on a brand new journey together. All the dogs insisted on being involved in the packing but let’s be honest they’re more just hanging out and getting in the way while we tried to do our thing. Such is life, right?

The photo was a lot of fun to put together for me. I figured if I was going to finally shoot something like this I wasn’t going to slack off much. We won’t say I did everything right because that never happens. It needed the personal touches though. Making use of .UNTITLED.’s Cardboard set helped a lot because it’s simply just cardboard boxes in various forms. I took the time to add some Sharpie text for most of them giving an idea of what was in that box. I tried to keep it to things that fit us and made it more than just a picture for the sake of being a picture.
Of course, it wouldn’t have happened without the pose to start from. I picked up {BLISS}’s Moving Pose Pack One and we did keep some of the things that came with it. Stacks of clothing and the shirt on the hanger as well as the pose premise itself. I chose to swap out the boxes to make it more personal but you can definitely use the ones they have with it because they are fantastic also. I just wanted to ability to customize the scene to fit us. Outfit wise we both just went casual for a moving day scene, nothing fancy or complicated because there’s a good chance something gets torn or dirty or ruined all together. So if you’ve been around for a minute or two you know that for the longest time, I’ve used a song to tie together a post. Since music plays such a big part in my everyday life and my blog, it would be foolish for me to not incorporate it into my writing. I used to just put lyrics at the top and bottom, throw the video in, and a Spotify link to make sure it got you to the artist directly. The title of the post and the photo are also almost -always- taken from the song used. I’ve recently decided that even I lose track of what songs or artists I’ve used and since making things simpler is always good, music has become its own section here. You can go by general genre and click an artist’s name to see what posts are tied to them. This leads me to the musician of this post, though in this one, he’s more of a poet.
Some of you may know him, but most of you probably don’t. Before I get to his name think about the most recent Kay Jewelers commercials and you may recognize his song.
It was one of the first ones that I found of his and I was so happy to see it get used in something big like that because not many that I knew, knew who he was. He’s come to be somewhat of a friend since then and I’ve loved watching him expand and grow and succeed. His name is Forest Blakk and he’s exceptional. I’ve only featured him once before on the blog because, for the longest time, I was doing photos solo or of myself and the alt but now I have a lot more opportunities and reasons to have him on here.
Forest does a lot of great music but he also does what I guess you would call spoken word or poetry read aloud, I’m not really sure what you’d want to call it. We’ll go with “spoken word” for the sake of simplicity. The reason I chose “Swipe Right” for this post is the uplifting message it conveys. In the end, it comes down to we are all the same, all worth caring about, worth loving, and we are not anything more than what we wish to be seen as. I also loved the idea of swiping right or left because honestly, and this could be a damn ad spot for Thundr, that’s how we met. I never expected it to work out as well as it did but here we are and I truly couldn’t be happier with the decision. Now I know I’m in the lucky minority where it works out like that but put yourself out there, take chances, because you never know what might happen. I swiped quite a few times and ended up right where I belong. I owe a massive thanks to Thundr for somehow guiding me in the perfect direction. Credits as always are below!
