We have been on one hell of a roll over the last couple of weeks now and I don’t anticipate it slowing down anytime soon. The only part that might slow it down would be the fact that I have to edit and write and that takes time but I’m going to do my best to try and keep up as much as possible so I don’t fall too far behind. It’s great to be able to truly enjoy shooting photos again and having someone who wants to do them as much as I do. Mackenzie also is very helpful at bringing in ideas or another perspective on how it could look or be shot which is good to have around. I find myself getting into a pattern sometimes so having the other voice to point me in a direction is so beneficial.
I ran through a few Taylor Swift songs because she was what we were listening to as this photo was being shot and Love Story kept sticking in our heads. I toyed with Long Live and while I do love that song and could have made it work for this, Love Story was the right choice. When it sticks in your head that much you just have to use it. I’m going to apologize to Mike right now because I know he has an idea for this song as well and I know it’s very much different from what I came up with. I can’t wait to see what he does with it when he gets to work on it. Nevertheless, we arrived at this being the right song for the right picture at the right time. I wanted to shoot this and had a few different iterations on what I could use to make it work, ultimately we ended up agreeing on this K&S backdrop and I pulled out a pose I had from Valor Poses that was absolutely perfect for the scene.
I know I introduced Mackenzie to the blog and all of the things that come along with it not that long ago, but we’ve known one another to a degree for quite some time, and in the time we’ve been together it’s very apparent how in sync we truly are. There’s no should’ve, would’ve, could’ve with her. We do what we want to do, each one of us has their things, we respect one another’s wants and needs, and communication is a piece of cake. It’s the first time in a long time that I truly have zero complaints about anything. Everything just works like it should and even though we both probably expect the next day to have something where it goes sideways or weird, it just doesn’t happen. The past has led us to where we are and neither one of us is taking it for granted. We embrace and enjoy every moment and plan to for a long time to come.
I would be a bad blogger if I didn’t talk a little bit about the lovely items that helped create the scene you see above. I know I tend to write more generally most of the time and while I do love doing that, the idea would never come together without the creations we have available. I won’t cover everything because this post would be a mile long but I want to hit a few points for sure. Let’s start with -the- dress, if you’re new here you know I have always loved JustBECAUSE not only for the wide variety of both colors and bodies they provide for, but Annie Melson just does some incredible work. The Sabrina Dress, which I believe I’ve featured before is beautifully made, the ruffles, and color options, it’s just the perfect dress for the vintage vibe we wanted.
Then of course there is [Vexiin] and they covered the main rings. I’ve been a fan of Vexiin Takeda‘s work for a long time now, going back years if I had to guess. I knew the direction to go with mine and mine is less important so you can find it below. Finding hers was the tricky part. Thankfully [Vexiin] has a stunning rock of a ring called “The Yonce” that was impossible to ignore. I had a couple of options there, but I just kept going back to that one. She loved it so it was the right choice and as usual [Vex] came through in the clutch. Last, but certainly not least we have the backdrop to the scene! The K&S Wishing Fountain backdrop was one we both decided on using for this particular photo. As I said above I had originally toyed around with a couple of ideas (that’s pretty normal for me) but ultimately she felt this one was the best because the fountain added that little bit extra to what we wanted to do.
The reason we chose this pose, this song, and the overall vibe of the pose is to show off the ring that she’s wearing. We made sure to find a pose that was right but not completely in your face. That’s right, I’m keeping her around, and she is all in on staying right where she’s at now. When and where we decide to officially make everything well official, who knows, but it’s in the cards down the line here. I got step one done and out of the way and it was perfectly done. Get used to seeing her here (I’m sure you have by now anyway) and maybe we can talk her into posting or contributing to a post here or there too. She’s really starting to refine her photography skills and I have been very impressed with what I have seen. It’s all about learning the little things and slowly but surely she’s learning them and improving them, going to pass me up at this rate.
