“If this lie is so sweet, cruising a hundred and three
I’m in the fast lane, I’m moving rapid
It’s do or die and you can catch back up then
I’ll never slow down, just like a ghost town
James Dean, curtain call, silver screen showdown”
Hollywood Undead – Live Fast, Die Young
Hey look we’re back again with cars. I felt the need to use them again. Before I moved to gaming on PC, I was completely a console gamer. You name the console and I had it at whatever point. I always used to love the racing games, the first one really being Test Drive 6 on Playstation back in 1999. It was the first racing game that got me into playing them and it was always fun to play and easy enough to do. I didn’t need things made me have to react like a professional at that point. Then I got into Need For Speed and that one changed my whole car/racing game love. Need For Speed: Underground in 2003 and that game still is one of my absolute favorites. I loved the street racing feel and all of the customization you could do in it. It fit right in that time frame too, because that was when we’re starting to ramp up in The Fast & Furious movies which only added to the appeal of all of it.
Then came Grand Theft Auto IV in 2008. I lived and breathed that multiplayer on that game to the maximum. How I miss the days of staying up til 4am and playing against other people night after night constantly. They had a game mode in multiplayer called “Team Mafia” which myself, Mike (who is in the red car above), and another friend of ours would work as a team against other teams that either joined the queue directly or randomly got paired up in it. We were pretty damn good at it as it was our favorite mode because it wasn’t just a kill as many people as possible. You had a mission, it might be delivering X amount of vehicles to a certain point, it might be an assassination of someone, or to pick up some supplies from somewhere and deliver them.
I can’t recall all of the different types but it played into our favor because we were all good at certain things and we’d fan out and handle the parts we were best at. A lot of times you would get random groups and those got done quick because if you weren’t coordinated it easy to lose. One misstep and you die and then you have to get back to where you were and hope the other team didn’t beat you to it. They usually did. We had few teams we’d play against regularly and some that we despised because they were good and so were we, it was competition and well we took it too serious sometimes. We ended up being friendly with them after a while and then our games were a lot more fun because we could join them here and there and not hate each other in the process. They were fun times for sure. Grand Theft Auto V came out and it really changed up the multiplayer, removing the game option we loved, so needless to say we played it, but not for anywhere near as long as we used to. Maybe Grand Theft Auto VI will be a welcome change, only time will tell right?
Our mutual love of those types of things led to the idea of this post. We were sitting up late the one night and I had said I wanted to get Mike into a post. Then my brain got going and I thought back on all the games and the Fast & Furious and was like man we should do some kind of street racing. I figured I could make something happen with it and set on a mission to build a scene that fit what I thought up. Now let’s be honest I have cars from a lot of different places and in this post I have added yet another. I needed something red because Mike’s color is red and I landed at Vix Motors and knew right away that this was the place for this post. I found both Mike’s car and the one I used for myself there. I loved the look and customization allowed on both of them and definitely took advantage of it. My car didn’t start out green. But you wouldn’t know it! Make sure you check them and all of the other amazing vehicle creators out there, they do some incredible work.
For the background I started with MINIMAL’s Red Rocks Scene and I’ll be honest I love the scene, but I sort of tore it apart to make this look the way I wanted it to. Not because the scene isn’t great, it is, but because I needed us to be coming around the turn. The angle that I had from the original scene didn’t really give me what I was hoping for. But that’s okay, it’s modifiable and I worked with it and ultimately we got what needed. I added some FANATIK Lofoten (Arizona) and Cliff Covers (Desert) to make the scene come fully into view because they matched up well with it. The rest is Photoshop magic and love save for some of the smoke which is thanks to Ana Poses – Putain set. See below for more on how that worked. Everything else is credited below as always, I’ll see you in the next one!
“I just wanna live while the feelings live, a hundred on the highway
Put the top down, feel the air, kill the snare
Life’s a movie, we’re the directors
We’re the star, don’t bother us, no time for the lectures
Many memories, I wouldn’t trade for the planet
Life is short, I never take it for granted”

**Smoke (and how I did it) Two pose sets from Ana Poses. While I didn’t use the poses for their original design I found that the spray cans made for some really nice looking smoke. You can get them by purchasing Ana Poses – Putian set for men and Ana Poses – Yerevan set for women. I highly recommend them both for not only their intended use but for what you can do beyond it. Hell of a job on those Fanny. ❤**
