Sometimes losing your place in something you helped build leaves you trying to separate what belonged to it from what still belongs to you.

SCATTERBRAIN’s BITTER got me thinking about Brian Burkheiser, his account of how his time with I Prevail ended, what he’s creating now and what it means to finally tell your own side of a story. The open gates, darkness and light became my way of bringing all of that into the photo.

You can still be angry. You can even be a little BITTER. Just don’t stop building whatever comes next.

Before I get into the meat of this post I want to be clear. This post is going to be heavy on legitimate information. I had some fun with this shot. I kind of just came about after sitting around for a bit. It’s been a really good weekend so it seemed kind of odd to go that direction but it worked. I was reasonably happy with the result of it and got a thumbs up from the lady of the house. Good enough reason to use it then. I ended up shooting about 5 shots to get the overlay of bloody and beaten that I wanted for it. Always fun to get into photoshop at midnight and end up with something you like.
