Halestorm – can u see me in the dark? [Ft. I Prevail]
I shot this photo a week ago and edited it but I waited on posting it. Why did I wait? I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to write. I’m still not entirely sure what to write. I knew I loved the shot though, because it was more of a scene shot than a focus on one thing in particular. Variety right? Let the games begin…
The detective’s office was dimly lit, a single desk lamp casting long shadows on the cluttered surface. On the wall behind it, a murder board stood as the room’s grim centerpiece, its collage of photographs, notes, and strings crisscrossing like a spider’s web.
Detective Alex Taylor stood there with his hands resting on the desk, eyes scanning the evidence for the hundredth time that evening. Each piece of evidence felt like a fragment of a language he didn’t quite know how to read.
He stood and approached the board, his shoes scuffing against the tile floor. A Polaroid photo of the victim, a Jane Doe, mid-30s, a warm smile forever frozen – hung in the center. Beneath it, handwritten notes outlined the timeline of the last 48 hours before her death. The detective’s fingers hovered over the image, then shifted to a list of suspects pinned to the right.
His gaze fixed on a note in red ink: “Alibi doesn’t check out.” It was connected by a thin red thread to a photo of the suspect, Christopher Nixon, his eyes cold and piercing even in a grainy surveillance still.
He narrowed his eyes. Something wasn’t sitting right. He plucked a sticky note from the bottom of the board, scribbling, “Cross-reference Christopher’s movements with all traffic cams.”
A knock at the door broke his concentration. His partner, Detective Pullman, poked her head in. “You’re still at it?”
“Yeah,” Alex muttered without looking away from the board. “We’re missing something. It’s here, I can feel it.”
Pullman stepped in, nodding toward the board. “Then let’s find it before he slips through our fingers.”
Alex stepped back, crossing his arms. The board loomed over them like a silent challenge…

As you’ve probably noticed, things around the blog have been a lot slower for the last few months. I mean really it’s been the majority of the year. Part of that being my work injury. Then getting back into shooting photos with the changes that PBR brings. I’ve just been trying to shoot different things to see what I end up with.
I’m still adjusting to all of it and finding the inspiration for photos and posts. I think that’s been the biggest slowdown on everything. Ideas are key to making something happen, especially for how I blog, and I have been lacking in that department. It’s not for lack of trying either. I’m sure eventually the blockade will break and it’ll be like it usually is. But, until it does the struggle is real.
Let’s see where our new, still untitled, story takes us and if I manage to keep up with it. Stay tuned for more on the hunt for Christopher Nixon. Can Taylor and Pullman solve the mystery? We’ll find out together. Credits for the scene can be found below.
