Two blonde Luckys in less than two weeks? I know it’s crazy right. But when the opportunity strikes and the idea is good you do what works. After we shot the first Barbie picture with FOXCITY’s Dollhouse Theatre (still available at Collabor 88 until August 6th!) I saw the ad come up for this one coming to Kustom9. Immediately I knew I should bring it up to Mackenzie and she was completely sold on doing it as soon as we possibly could. It’s really nice to have someone who both enjoys shooting pictures and dealing with my shooting process, haha. It takes a bit but if you’re patient we can get somewhere, in my opinion.
This time we are featuring FOXCITY’s Dollhouse Castle and Princess Pose set from Kustom9. In true Barbie fashion is it every bit amazing. Figuring out what to do with Barbie was the easy part honestly. I didn’t have to handle dresses or figuring the outfit out because she did all of that. She once again had more than one option to use which is great because it gave us multiple looks to see what we liked most. In the end, I said go with what you think is best. She chose the .:{Sofia}:. Eitana Gown Dress that is available at this month’s round of The Inithium Event until July 31st. It’s the first time I’ve featured either one here so welcome to blog! She topped off her look with (Yummy)’s Heartthrob Earrings and Necklace from this month’s round of Collabor88 along with the [Z O O M] Karmila’s Crown from the Happy Weekend sale.
Now figuring out what to do with the original accessory to Barbie was another question. Since it was a castle this time and she was going to princess it up, crown and all, I thought maybe a prince or knight was the play. I had some things that fit both but ultimately the knight seemed to be a better call. Especially since it was a white knight armor set and we all know how that goes. I used – Infiniti Projects – White Knights set in White to complete the Ken look today. It worked extremely well and I topped it off with the Wrath’s Conviction sword in gold from [EZ] Weaponry. The rest came down to just taking Ken from “Get Me With Those Green Eyes Baby” and putting him in the outfit. Why change him up too much when the original look works so well right? Keep it simple.
**Sidenote too, you probably are thinking “Ah Lucky’s being mushy with his music choices again.” You’re probably right, but it also fits the Barbie and Ken thing since he’s been hers for 62 years now. I happened to pick this particular song because not only did it fit, but Mackenzie introduced me to her last night and I spent some time today listening to her. I had not heard of Hollyn prior to that anywhere and if you know I’m always open to new music because I love music. I had a different song picked originally but she persuaded me in the slightest way to change my tune so I found this one and figured best of both worlds. I did some digging around because of a CNN article and it really made me look at Barbie’s male counterpart differently. We all know Ken’s job description is “Beach” and that’s pretty much him. I found it interesting that his sole purpose for the last 62 years was to be the main accessory to Barbie. I mean it does make sense with the line literally being called Barbie, not Ken. It was still interesting though. I found out that on average for every seven Barbies sold, there is one Ken sold. The poor guy really is just a fashion side piece for Barbie and that’s how most of his existence has been planned and played out.
I’ve read and been told that the Barbie movie has given them an opportunity to now do more things with Ken and explore him a bit more than they previously have. I think that’ll be awesome if they actually do it because everyone has the things they like, and maybe there are people out there who are just as attached to Ken as those that are attached to Barbie. The Barbie Movie hits theaters tomorrow, July 21st. Godspeed Ken here’s to being more than just the original accessory!
