If you’ve been around this blog for a while (and if you’re reading this now odds are you have!), you’ve probably noticed that it’s been a little less blonde for a long while now. But that’s all about to change, because Mackenzie is back. This blog has always been a reflection of my Second Life, the things that matter most to me, what I like, what I don’t, what I’m thinking, and of course the people who make it all so special. If there’s one person who deserves to be at the heart of this space, it’s Mackenzie. She is my constant, my biggest supporter, and my absolute best friend.
If you know Mackenzie, then you already understand how incredible she is. If you don’t? Let me introduce you to one of the most amazing people in Second Life (and honestly, in any life, yeah I’m probably biased, and if you know me you know I could care less what you think in that regard). Mackenzie is brilliant. She’s the kind of smart that doesn’t need to announce itself; she just knows things, understands people, and always seems to have the right words at the right time. She’s the one who reminds me to slow down, to think things through, to see situations from different angles (and pictures from different angles too). She balances me in a way no one else ever has.
She’s loving and kind in a way that’s natural, it’s part of who she is. It’s not just the words she says, it’s in everything she does every day. She shows up in the little moments, whether it’s the way she listens, really -listening- and making me feel heard, or how she supports me without hesitation, always offering help (a lot of the time) before I even ask. She just knows what I need without me saying a word. She’s always present, always paying attention, making life feel a little bit lighter and easier just by being Mackenzie.
One of the things that amazes me most is her strength. She’s so much stronger than I think she realizes or will admit sometimes. She could give up, but she doesn’t. She pushes forward, no matter how tough things get, and still keeps showing up as herself. She handles life’s challenges, never letting the struggles take away from her softness, her kindness. That’s what makes her so special. She has so much resilience, yet never loses the heart that makes her who she is, is inspiring. It reminds me every day that strength doesn’t have to look tough. Sometimes, it’s the quietest people with the most strength, and that’s exactly what she is.
I have to be honest too. She’s just fun. Life is better when she’s around. She makes me laugh, she makes the small moments feel big, and she brings so much light into my world. Again, if you’ve been here for a while you know that things can get dark so that is an amazing quality for her to have. No matter what we’re doing, whether it’s weekend shopping, event hopping, popping out to places we like, or just standing around talking, being with her is my absolute favorite thing. But, Mackenzie doesn’t just make life more fun, she makes it more beautiful. Take for example her eye for photography?
I could take a picture of the same exact thing, from the same exact spot (you know I love doing perspectives posts), and somehow, hers will always be wayyyyyy better. Every. Single. Time. She just knows how to capture things in a way that tells a story, that brings emotions to the surface, that makes you stop and stare because it’s just that good. I’ll be standing here, thinking I got a decent shot, and then she’ll show me hers, and all of a sudden, mine looks like it was taken with my eyes closed. I have literally discarded photos I’ve shot because hers is exactly what I saw in my head but failed to capture. It’s not just about skill, though. It’s the way she sees things. The way she notices the way the light falls, the way the colors blend, the way a simple tweak to a pose, or a movement can turn a scene into something breathtaking. Some credits can be found below.
