This post is a mashup of post styles because it technically fits multiple ones and I would be failing myself if I didn’t apply them as I saw them. So we get a mashup of From The Vault and Same Same, But Different, Period. all in one post. We’ll see how good this goes and if I regret slamming together three styles or not. Hopefully not but I won’t know until it’s written so off we go! Now to a degree, I have re-shot this kind of idea once before with the post “Someone To Sit With” which took a lot of inspiration from the original. So while this is not that image nor its original final edit from “But I’ve Had My Moments”, it is the shot from 2016, just re-edited differently because it’s a shot I love even over six years later.
Things I wrote back then are just as true today. I do this for the love of doing it, sometimes you get a flurry of posts and words, sometimes I’m just not in that mindset and you don’t. The joy in going back to these and thinking about what was going on and how things were is kind of awesome. It doesn’t matter where things are today, the memories and good feelings were real and sometimes looking back shows you the way forward. That’s my plan here. Where that takes us I don’t know, but we’ll get there.
I did a lot of thinking about what and why and it really dawned on me when I started putting the idea for this shot together. I could have done it from the front to showcase what we wore, our Catwa heads, the emotions shown, and all of those things. But the picture would not have had the feeling that I wanted. Looking at it what we’re wearing doesn’t really matter. I wanted the warmth, the hues of light against the grass and trees, and love shared between two people to show. The feeling it gave me was just that, love.
I’m going forward with that kind of mindset from here on out (or at least trying my best to do so.) Doing it for just the joy of working on photos because I want to, not because I have to. If it gets favorites or comments awesome, and if it not, then in the end I’m happy because I did what I wanted to do. Sitting down this morning and kidnapping Portia to do a picture just because I liked the idea of it, priceless. ❤
But I’ve Had My Moments – October 24, 2016
I enjoy taking photos and sometimes that turns into a great showcase of an amazing creation that a creator made. It’s awesome when that works out that way and I do love to do that. But usually, for me, the photo is secondary which probably runs counter to the point of blogging things. I think that’s where I sometimes struggle because I like to write more than anything. Often times it’s not even related to the photo or at best I try and relate the photo to the writing but the words and feelings are what matter the most for me. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to do what I like doing and how I like doing it for a long time here and I’ve had a lot of wonderful comments and messages about the way I do things. Thank you to those who have said they enjoy this kind of thing because you all help reinforce that doing it the way I want to isn’t bad. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay.
I know I haven’t been very present in my SL lately and that’s mostly just due to life being hectic. I certainly hope to be back sometime soon but when I don’t know. I’ve got one other post cooking that will get posted shortly, and it has its purpose as most of them do. I still have to shoot a photo for it and honestly don’t know what I want to do with it. We will see. I don’t have a ton to write for this post because it’s just me enjoying what I like to do. Originally the post had more but I opted to use it elsewhere so we’re keeping it short today. We’ll just say it’s more of a sign that “Hey I’m still around and I apologize for my absence” than anything else. I’ll see you again in the next post and from there we’ll both figure out where we’re going. Soon TM.
