Hey Lucky, how did -you- spend your Halloween this year? Well crowd (heh crowd, I might be getting ahead of myself there lol.) For the record though any of you who take the time to check anything here out, whether you follow or don’t, whether you love it or hate it, I appreciate it. Back to the story though, I spent it cold, very cold. The weather so kindly decided that Halloween would be a GREAT day for our first day of snow! Awesome right? Considering the amount that fell I didn’t anticipate many issues. Maybe a few less kids out trick or treating but nothing more.
Well WE Energies (That’s the power company up here) has this thing about -not- protecting their “infrastructure.” This same “infrastructure” almost always ends up with “damage greater than we anticipated.” Needless to say the power went out on a lovely 30 degree day. So it was a chilly dark evening for the most part. Two trick or treaters total and mega leftover candy. Not a win there haha. I had intended to get this shot and posted prior to the end of October but sadly the universe had other plans. I should have shot it sooner than the day of, so poor planning on ole Lucky’s part, but that’s life right. On we go.
The shot above is very very heavily influenced by Stephen King’s IT. I recently got around to watching both Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 so the idea to play around with it was a natural fit. Plus since my SL brother leans more heavily into The Joker I figured this clown was a better fit for me. He’s a bit twisted and totally evil. I used a bit of creative license and shrunk down E.V.E’s Dancing Bubbles & Fireflies to try and remake the deadlights from IT. I originally had a balloon in the cage but after thought the deadlights seemed like a way cooler idea to me. It’s up to you whether or not I made the right decision on it. Tip of the cap to Noke for giving me the kinds of tools to make that kind of thing possible. Try not to stare at those for very long if at all, you might never come back.
**Quickish note on the editing for this one. I’ve kind of liked explaining a little bit of what I did or didn’t do because there were times when I used to be curious about what a blogger did. I wouldn’t say the shot was perfect for starters. I never think they are. Always room for improvement. But it was a reasonably easy shot to edit thanks to the setup being clean and simple. I have found that taking extra time on setting the scene leads to less time in the editing room (Photoshop).
It was the usual fixing small spots and then dodge/burn to pull out the things I wanted to really pop. Then I messed with some filtering to give it a more horror vibe. I was pretty sure it was done at that point, then I thought about it. In my head I can see IT quickly moving forward, almost jump skipping, and being right on top of you before you realize it. So I played with some double exposure to attempt to give it that feeling. I hope that comes through but if it doesn’t at least you understand what I was going for.**
Not a ton to say about the look because it really is more of a photograph type thing then an “I need to blog this look” thing. The base of outfit is taken from ANTINATURAL[+]’s Carnival Freaks gacha that was at the last round of Lootbox. This is now the second styling I’ve used it for so it got even more use than I had expected. I love the creatively different things that allow me to step outside of a normal LOTD type photo or post. So many amazing minds out there that push boundaries that I wouldn’t even imagine. The rest of the items used in the creation are amazing and you can find them in the credits below. Both Pewpew! and ExalteD’s items were at events that -literally- just ended yesterday so please give those lovely people some time to get them over to their stores for you.
