The Spiritor Edit – First Stop

Hi, I’m Lucky. I’ve been blogging and taking photos in Second Life for a long time, mostly over at LuckySpiritor.Com. I tend to bounce around between fashion, photography, music, and whatever else catches my attention, so when I got the chance to start sharing some things here too, I figured I’d pretty much do the same thing I always do: show you something cool I found and tell you why I liked it.

Seems easy enough, right?

So, can we start with this subway car?

This is MaMu’s Subway Car, and you can find it at Lewd Station right now. I saw it and pretty much immediately knew I wanted to do something with it. I mean, look at it. It has that slightly worn, lived-in subway feel without looking like somebody went completely overboard trying to make it dirty, and there are so many little spots inside that I kept moving the camera around thinking, okay, I could do something here too.

That’s probably what I like most about it. MaMu basically handed me a whole location in one build. You can make the subway the star of the photo, use one little corner of it, shoot through the doors, sit down, stand around looking dramatically out a window like you’re in a music video. You know, normal subway activities.

MaMu has quickly become a favorite for me. Marina Münter does some amazingly creative things that I could tell you about all day. Whether it’s collaborating with NeutralTones and OMY for the Roller Disco, working with Jake Vordun/Fancy Decor on creating The Bardi Art Pavilion, or creating so many fabulous things on her own. Check her out if you haven’t, run, don’t walk. Just don’t trip either okay? I don’t have the liability insurance for that.

More importantly, I didn’t have to build an entire subway station just to convince myself I was standing in one. Always a bonus.

Then we have [Deadwool], and anyone who knows me is probably shocked. Absolutely stunned.

The E. tee is their newest release at The Fifty, and it’s exactly the kind of thing I like from [Deadwool]. It’s just a really good T-shirt. That sounds almost too simple, but sometimes that’s the point. It fits well, it looks good, and it has enough going on that I don’t feel like I need to pile another five things onto the outfit to make it interesting.

I paired it with [Deadwool]’s Dean jeans because, honestly, why complicate things? A good tee, good jeans, sneakers. Done. The Dean jeans are already one of those pieces that work with practically anything I throw at them, and the E. tee feels like it’s going to end up in that same category pretty quickly.

That’s always been one of my favorite things about what Masa Plympton does. [Deadwool] has plenty of things in my inventory that I bought because they looked amazing for one very specific photo. Then there are the things I keep actually wearing. [Deadwool] tends to land in that second pile for me.

Which brings us to the S.01 Lows from Complex. Yes, you can find them at the main store, walk in hang a right, and boom there they are!

Yes, I needed another pair of sneakers. We’re not discussing that.

I found these and liked them pretty much as soon as I put them on. They’re clean without being boring, there’s plenty of detail when you get up close, and they have that everyday sneaker look that means I can wear them with way more than just this outfit. Complex also gives them enough personality that they don’t disappear at the bottom of the picture, which is harder to find than it probably should be.

Mostly, though, they just looked right with everything else. The tee, the jeans, the subway car, the whole casual thing I had going on. Sometimes you put something on and immediately start changing everything else to make it work.

These went on and stayed on.

I’m calling that justification enough.

So that’s pretty much how this is going to work. I find things I like, take entirely too many pictures of them, and then come here to tell you why you might like them too.

This seems like a perfectly healthy arrangement for everyone involved. Anyway, I think I’ve successfully expressed my love for the MaMu Subway Car, the [Deadwool] E. tee, and another pair of sneakers thanks to Complex, which feels like enough accomplishment for one post.
