It’s strange how long two years can feel, and at the same time, how fast they can disappear. There were days that felt endless, nights that stretched too far, moments when it seemed impossible this day would ever come. And yet here it is, almost close enough to touch.
I think back to the beginning a lot. The first conversation. The first spark. The way I knew instantly this wasn’t just passing time, this wasn’t just another story in a place full of them. It was different. The kind of different you can’t explain, even if I have tried to, but you only feel it. Since then, so much has happened that doesn’t always seem clear from the outside looking in; anniversaries celebrated in pixels, laughter spilling into the night, whispered confessions that somehow meant more because there was no distance in them even when there was distance in everything else. All of it inside a world made of pixels, but never once did it feel fake. If you know, you know.
The quiet times mattered just as much, maybe even more. When the world outside pressed too heavy, there was always a place where it didn’t. Where she was. There were storms, too. Times where we had to choose to keep standing. Not everything was easy, and I wouldn’t want it to be. Days where I needed more, days where she needed more. Fire makes porcelain. (Thanks Ed Sheeran for that line.) That’s all I’ll say about that.
Now the part we’ve been waiting for but couldn’t rush. Timing mattered. We both knew it. Maybe we didn’t always like it, but we respected it. And now the time is finally right. Soon, the things we’ve only been able to imagine stop being imagination. The first hug, I won’t even try to put words to that. The weight of two years in something that seems so simple to many. A kiss that resets everything.
From there, the rest unfolds on its own. Roadtrips. Laughter in the car. The kinds of memories we haven’t had the chance to make yet, but will. I think a lot about the little things. The ordinary moments that other people overlook. Sitting side by side. Not having to log off. Not having to measure time zones. Eating together. Holding hands. All of it so simple, and yet those are the treasures we’ve been waiting years to collect.
Looking back at everything I’ve written here before; the good, the hard, the in-BetwEEn, it’s wild to see it all as a lead-up. Every word was laying some foundation, even if you, dear reader, didn’t realize it. This is just the next part. The build. The stretch into the unknown. I’m not going to write it all down, because not all of it belongs here. Some things are just ours, and they always will be.
After two years of waiting, of holding, of hoping, the dream steps off the screen. The next chapter isn’t just another post, it’s the rest of the story. One I already know it’s going to be worth telling, even if I never tell it all. XOXO Gossip Guy.
