So where have I been over the last two weeks. That’s a good question, fair question too. It’s been a whirlwind combination of things if I’m being truly honest about it. Numerous projects around the house combined with some failing appliances on top of the normal day to day work has kept me busier than I’d like. Now not all of the time has been tied up in work/projects of course. Whatever free time there was had already either been set aside for other things or I just plain didn’t want to do anything
I have to say I really haven’t felt inspired to blog wise in that time frame so stepping back a little was the best call. As much as I’d love to post regularly and more often, I promised myself that I’d do this because I wanted to do it. The last two weeks, I just haven’t felt it. It’s not that there’s nothing to blog because there definitely is. The creators are going hard and heavy as always with loads of amazing new things. I’ve been more tied up in WoW as my raid group has been winding down raiding before our summer break.
Before I delve into the parts that some, if not most of you, won’t care as much for, I’ll get to the part you probably are here for. I built this look somewhat around the idea of my Void Elf Brewmaster Monk in WoW. Granted she’s not as detailed gear wise as I’d say she is in game. I felt like it did her reasonable justice for an attempt. Thankfully some badass new creations were available at this month’s We Love RolePlay to aid me in my quest.
The first thing I picked up was the Vadruna outfit from <glyph>. It had the leather look that I really needed to pull off the feel of a monk. I didn’t use all of it, but only because I -had- to make room for the Telcontar boots from Senzafine that are also available for purchase there. Hats off to both of those fine creators in basically outfitting my entire monk look. There’s still plenty of time to get over there to check out all of the amazing items that are available. Just don’t forget!
I’ve written about WoW twice before here though it’s almost been two years since. The first time (The Journey to and Through Warcraft) was somewhat of a chronicling of what led me to it and what I’d done to that point. The second (For The Alliance) was loosely based around the release of the Warcraft movie. If I’m being picky the second one was my favorite. This one is a kind of where the hell did you go this time post. We’re at the point where the Legion expansion is winding down slowly. At the same time Beta for the new expansion Battle for Azeroth is ongoing. That’s mostly where I’ve been.
Since I chronicled my WoW journey a lot of things have changed for me in the WoWverse. For starters I have long since abandoned my main toon. I was a hunter loyalist from my first days in WoW and I never thought I would walk away from it but I did. I gave up the mantle of ranged DPS (for those less in the know, Hi Brennan, that’s a damage dealer) in the middle of Nighthold for a newer more bold role. Hello Brewmaster Monk. Yes you read that right. I dropped being a DPS to be a Tank (meat shield, Bren). A role that I had never done before at any point. Stupid, maybe? Did it work out, you bet your ass it did. It’s still the role I do today and after doing it I feel like it was the one that I was meant to do in this type of game.
I grew into the role more as that tier went on and as I already said it’s still the role I play today. I like to think I’ve improved over the course of three raid tiers and seeing as the guild hasn’t booted me yet I hope they agree. (Side story, I actually tank for two guilds at present. We have a semi-sister guild on another realm that needed some help. So I offered and now two tiers later here I am lol.) On top of the role switch I found myself in another interesting position towards the end of the next raid tier. I’ll explain briefly. When I moved over to the North American realms from the European ones, I joined a guild with a couple of friends of mine. They were already established so it worked out well. Since I was close to the guild master I had a bit of extra responsibility early on.
Back to the somewhat present we’re coming to the end of Tomb of Sargeras and our current GM, who was Co-GM with my friend decided he needed to take a long break from the game. Now my friend and I had talked in the weeks leading up to this about the things we would like to do in the event that we we’re both running the show. It just so happened that when our co-gm left, I moved into his place. Since then I’ve been half running the Guild along with taking over Raid lead duties. It’s been a learning experience but one I’ve enjoyed most of the time. Since Nighthold we’ve made solid progression realm wise, with each tier being an improvement over the prior one. I’m hoping to see that continue throughout Battle for Azeroth as well.
For those of you who aren’t World of Warcraft fans or have little to no idea about it, you can always ask. If you made it this far without losing your mind to my randomness, congrats to you and thanks for reading my ramblings. Lelantis#2468
