I Need You To See Me For What I Have Become

There is something interesting about the idea of Eden because people almost always imagine it from the positive side of the story. We picture paradise before anything happened to it. Everything prior to the fall. Before knowledge complicated its innocence. Before something beautiful became something you could lose. We imagine the gates still open and everything exactly where it belongs. What we don’t spend nearly as much time thinking about is what Eden could look like to someone standing outside of it.

When Your Fans Become Your Haters, You Done?

That’s one of the reasons I’ve struggled with the idea that an apology, by itself, somehow fixes what existed before. I don’t believe that’s how trust works. If you drop a plate on the floor and then apologize to it, the apology may be sincere, but it doesn’t put the plate back together. The apology isn’t the end of the conversation. It’s the beginning of asking why the plate ended up on the floor in the first place, because that’s where the problem actually starts getting solved.
