Speechless

Not really a styling post today, more of a “I really had fun working on this picture” type of post. It’s showing a very different side of myself and Portia.

I had the idea for the above shot for the last week. It started out in a random conversation Portia and I had one night. “Back scratches with shadows and a bit of lighting,” is what I believe I said to her. There was finally some free time to get it shot last night. (Yay!) While it is suggestive and certainly implies certain things, I see it as a tasteful nude shot.

Yes, it does highlight some very obvious things. The scratches on the back, the look on Portia’s face are very focused. But the decision to make the shadowing where it is, was done intentionally to let you, the viewer, see it how you see it. Hidden from view are all of the “naughty bits” leaving it completely up to the imagination of the person seeing it.

Some may see it in the artistic way I do, others may just see a nude photo. It is rare that I post photos like the one above. Probably because I’m a naturally private person so doing something like this was a challenge for me. It was cool though, stepping outside of my normal boundaries and seeing what I could do with an idea in my head. I’ve greatly enjoyed going through my Flickr stream and seeing the amazing ideas that everyone comes up with. It pushes me to try more things and be more creative then I thought I could be.
