All The Lies Must Be Bitter On Your Tongue

Sometimes losing your place in something you helped build leaves you trying to separate what belonged to it from what still belongs to you.

SCATTERBRAIN’s BITTER got me thinking about Brian Burkheiser, his account of how his time with I Prevail ended, what he’s creating now and what it means to finally tell your own side of a story. The open gates, darkness and light became my way of bringing all of that into the photo.

You can still be angry. You can even be a little BITTER. Just don’t stop building whatever comes next.

I Need You To See Me For What I Have Become

There is something interesting about the idea of Eden because people almost always imagine it from the positive side of the story. We picture paradise before anything happened to it. Everything prior to the fall. Before knowledge complicated its innocence. Before something beautiful became something you could lose. We imagine the gates still open and everything exactly where it belongs. What we don’t spend nearly as much time thinking about is what Eden could look like to someone standing outside of it.
