Few colors seem to come with as many assumptions as pink. Somewhere along the way, society decided that colors should have rules attached to them. Certain colors became associated with certain genders, certain interests, and certain expectations. Over time, those ideas became so common that many people stopped questioning them altogether. The strange thing is that pink is still just a color. It doesn’t tell us who someone is. It doesn’t determine what they should wear. It doesn’t decide what interests they should have or how they should express themselves.

When I Walk In The Room, I Can Still Make The Whole Place Shimmer

When I first saw Bubble Blvd, the latest collaboration between FOXCITY and Rosary for Collabor88, I expected the backdrop itself to be the star. After all, it would have been easy for it to be. What started as a simple car wash concept evolved into a complete destination experience featuring custom branding, landscaping, signage, running water, interactive elements, and enough personality to make it feel like a place rather than just a backdrop. The moment I arrived, I understood why.

Of all the colors represented in the Pride flag, spirit may be the most difficult to explain because it means something different to everyone. When I think about spirit, I don’t think about perfection, confidence, or having life completely figured out. I think about conviction. I think about the beliefs, values, and pieces of ourselves that remain unchanged regardless of what life throws our way.

I chose red. The more I worked on this, the more it just felt right for where my head was at creatively. Red isn’t a subtle color. It carries emotion loudly whether it wants to or not. Love, anger, passion, vulnerability, confidence, exhaustion, survival. It can feel warm one second and overwhelming the next.
